Good article. Interested in learning about punitive damages. As I mentioned earlier we were removed from school by not extending re-enrollment contract to us and received a thinly vailed threat to expell us if we don't exit smoothly. We pushed back saying that if that happens we may have a financial claim against school and received response with school law firm now involved. Waiting for school end so that we can leave smoothly and then will explore options to sue. Will ask for your advice, because as of now I am under impression that it would be extremely hard to do anything against the school because of how enrollment contract is designed.
We are so sorry to hear about your ordeal. It certainly confirms the fact that parents at private schools ('independent' schools) have virtually zero rights and why we MUST read our contracts carefully. NAIS exists to protect SCHOOLS as BUSINESSES and NOT our children. NAIS would like for parents to have no right to object, no right to question, no right to due process, no free speech inside or outside of school. Enrollment contracts are unconscionable, imbalanced, not mutually beneficial, and not reciprocal. We are expected to sign away every right as parents and schools are expected to guarantee nothing, not academic quality or even progress. The new Covid inspired health provisions stipulate that schools can demand any vaccine at any time at their own discretion. Some contracts now say parental consent will not be required or sought to affirm their child's preferred gender during school hours. Schools consider our children 'customers' and we are expected to pay the tuition, ask no questions, donate to the annual fund, and be paid lip service about 'inclusion' when we are excluded from school life beyond our checkbook. Please email us at BonjourUndercoverMother@protonmail.com . We'd like to help in any way we can. Best, UCM
I'm looking for a model opt-out letter, saying that we do not consent for our children to participate in any non-academic surveys, 'mental health' or well-being questionaires, etc... I vaguely recall seeing one put out by some parental rights advocacy group... Can you point me to a resource for this? Thank you!
Hello, Its best if you ask your school for their opt-out form. There are opt-out templates online, but we're not certain they provide blanket coverage. Best, UCM
Thank you for fighting this battle. It is the tip of the spear.

P.S. School communication happened in writing.
